How will the news stay new?

Will our children know a newspaper?  As our society continues to adapt to new technologies, we are coming to a new realization in the news industry; we might not always have a paper.  Our way of consuming news is rapidly changing and so far, the news industry has been slow to keep up.

I have been studying journalism since my sophomore year of high school and I have been consuming news since I could hear.  The news is not dying, it is transforming. As Jonathan Landman of The New York Times wrote, we need to understand our market and change our ways according to our readers.  We need to accept that this new way of news might not include a newspaper in print.

Technology such as the IPad have made it possible to have the same feel of a newspaper without the paper.  I think that in the future the news will be written into an interactive newspapers on these devises. People like the look and organization of a newspaper and that is why I think that newspapers will never truly die out. As journalists, we have to understand this changing market and adapt along with it.  In the future the news will be instant, it will be told in multiplatforms and it will continue to be told with the same ethical guidelines as the newspapers had in the past.
